A Brief History of SVU
Before we dive into the latest news, let’s take a brief look at the history of SVU. Law & Order: Special Victims Unit premiered in 1999 and was created by Dick Wolf. The show follows the investigations of the Special Victims Unit, a team of detectives who specialize in crimes against children and vulnerable adults. Over the years, the show has become a staple of the crime drama genre, known for its realistic portrayal of the complexities of the justice system and its ability to tackle tough, thought-provoking topics.

SVU has been a massive success for NBC, consistently ranking as one of the network’s highest-rated dramas. The show has won numerous awards, including several Emmy Awards, and has been praised for its realistic portrayal of the justice system and its impact on victims and their families. However, in 2020, NBC announced that SVU would be ending its 21-season run after the 20th season.
