When Does HBO Air on Peacock?
If you’re a fan of HBO’s iconic shows like Game of Thrones, Westworld, and True Blood, you might be wondering when HBO will air its content on Peacock. The answer might surprise you, but I’m here to enlighten you.
What is HBO?
Before we dive into the answer, let’s take a quick look at what HBO is. Founded in 1972 by Charles Dolan, HBO (Home Box Office) is a American cable television network that offers premium content, including original series, movies, documentaries, and more. With a vast library of content, HBO has become synonymous with high-quality programming.
When Does HBO Air on Peacock?
HBO and Peacock are two separate streaming services that offer exclusive content, but they do not share a direct relationship. Peacock is a relatively new streaming platform that was launched in 2020 as a spin-off of NBCUniversal’s existing streaming service, NBCUniversal’s Peacock Network.
To clarify, HBO does not air its content on Peacock. However, there are some interesting exceptions:
- Limited-time deals: In 2020, HBO and NBCUniversal negotiated a deal with Disney+ to air select HBO content for free for a limited time. This deal allowed fans of HBO to watch select shows, including Westworld and Game of Thrones, on Disney+.
- TV and movie simulcasting: In 2020, HBO partnered with Paramount Pictures to air select movies and TV shows on its own streaming service, HBO Max. This deal allowed fans to watch new and classic HBO content on the same day it was released.
- Original content: HBO is known for producing exclusive original content, and it continues to do so through its own streaming service, HBO Max. The platform offers a vast library of new and classic HBO content, including popular shows like The Sopranos, The Wire, and Curb Your Enthusiasm.
The Difference Between HBO and Peacock
To understand why HBO doesn’t air its content on Peacock, let’s take a look at the differences between the two platforms:
- Content library: Peacock has a smaller content library compared to HBO, with around 1,000 titles available. HBO, on the other hand, offers a vast library of over 5,000 titles, including its extensive collection of original content.
- Availability: Peacock is only available in the United States, while HBO is available in over 200 countries worldwide.
- Price: Peacock is a free, ad-supported streaming service, while HBO is a paid service with ad-free viewing and exclusive content.
When to Watch HBO on Peacock?
Since HBO and Peacock do not share a direct relationship, you can still watch HBO content on Peacock without any issues. Here are some specific dates and titles that you can expect to see on Peacock:
- June 7, 2022: HBO’s The Sopranos season 6 will be available on Peacock.
