Wiper Blades for 2021 RAM 1500: A Guide to Finding the Right Size
Choosing the Right Wiper Blades: A Critical Step in Vehicle Maintenance
Wiper blades are an essential component of your vehicle’s exterior, serving as a crucial means of clearing rain and snow from your windshield. However, the right size wiper blades can be a critical decision, as improper fitment can lead to reduced visibility, increased fuel consumption, and even damage to your vehicle’s wiper system. In this article, we will delve into the world of 2021 RAM 1500 wiper blades, providing you with the necessary guidance to find the correct size for your vehicle.
Understanding the Wiper Blade Measurements
Before we dive into the nitty-gritty of wiper blade sizing, it’s essential to understand the measurements used to specify wiper blade sizes. These measurements are typically represented by a combination of letters and numbers, which can be broken down into several key components:
- Wing Span: This refers to the distance between the top of the blade and the edge of the blade, measured in inches. Wing Span (Measured in Inches):
- Most modern wiper blades have a wing span of 15-18 inches.
- Center-to-Wheel (CTW) Distance: This is the distance from the center of the wheel to the center of the blade, measured in inches. CTW (Measured in Inches):
- Typically, CTW is 6-7 inches.
- Center-to-Wiper (CTW) Height: This is the distance from the center of the wheel to the center of the wiper blade, measured in inches. CTW (Measured in Inches):
- The recommended center-to-wiper height for most modern wiper blades is 1.25 inches.
- Brass Size: This refers to the diameter of the blade’s outer edge, measured in inches. Brass Size (Measured in Inches):
- The recommended brass size for most modern wiper blades is 1/16 of an inch.
Determining Your Wiper Blade Size
To determine your wiper blade size, follow these steps:
- Measure Your Wiper Blade: Measure the wing span, CTW distance, and center-to-wiper height of your wiper blade.
- Check Your Vehicle’s Wiper Blade Options: Consult your vehicle’s owner’s manual or look for a sticker on the driver’s side doorjamb to find the recommended wiper blade size for your vehicle.
- Consult the Manufacturers’ Specifications: Look for the manufacturer’s specifications for the 2021 RAM 1500 wiper blade size.
