What Foundation is Madison Laying Here?
Madison, the beautiful gem of Wisconsin, is home to the University of Wisconsin-Madison, one of the top-ranked public universities in the United States. However, behind the state’s stunning lakes, mountains, and natural beauty lies a lesser-known story. In this article, we’ll delve into the history and significance of Madison’s surrounding suburbs, particularly Kellogg’s Farm, where the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s foundation is laid.
A Brief History of Kellogg’s Farm
Kellogg’s Farm, also known as the "Foundation" or "Kellogg’s Community Foundation", is the largest agricultural area in the state of Wisconsin. The farm was once the main stop for Katherine Kellogg and her husband, Will Keith Kellogg, who were pioneer farmers and initial founding family of Kellogg Coffee Company. The foundation of the farm is indeed named after Katherine and Will Keith Kellogg**.
The farm was established in the early 1900s, and it quickly became a key player in the state’s agricultural industry. Katherine and Will Kellogg were committed to helping their children, W.W. Kellogg and Will Keith Kellogg Jr., establish a tangible part of the farming legacy in the state of Wisconsin**.
