Is Bleach on Disney Plus?
Content
Disney Plus is a popular streaming service that offers a wide range of original content, including TV shows, movies, and documentaries. However, in recent years, the service has faced controversy over its original content, including the presence of Bleach, a Japanese anime series.
The Original Content
Disney’s Acquisition of 20th Century Fox
In 2019, Disney acquired 20th Century Fox, a media conglomerate that owns several film and television studios, including Fox Television Group, Fox Networks Group, and 20th Century Fox Television. This acquisition marked a significant expansion of Disney’s streaming capabilities.
Bleach: A Japanese Anime Series
Bleach is a long-running anime series that was first broadcast in 2004. The series follows the story of Ichigo Kurosaki, a high school student who becomes a Soul Reaper, tasked with protecting humans from evil spirits. The series has a large global fan base and has been widely praised for its action-packed storyline, memorable characters, and epic battles.
Is Bleach on Disney Plus?
Availability on Disney Plus
No
Despite the acquisition of 20th Century Fox, Disney Plus has not been renewed for the licensing rights to Bleach. According to reports, Disney has not paid $1 billion to purchase the rights to Bleach, despite the high demand for the series.
Why Not Bleach on Disney Plus?
Multiple Reasons
* The rights are currently owned by Toei Animation
Toei Animation is the original creators and producers of Bleach, and it has retained the rights to the series. Disney would need to obtain a license from Toei Animation to air Bleach on Disney Plus.
* The rights are tied to the Akira Toriyama license
Akira Toriyama is the creator of Dragon Ball, and his licensing agreement with Toei Animation grants the rights to Bleach. Disney has not been granted this license, which is why the series is not available on Disney Plus.
* The streaming service is still in its early stages
While Disney Plus has expanded its original content in recent years, it still lags behind other streaming services in terms of its content offerings. If Bleach were to be added to the service, it would require significant additional content to justify the investment.
Alternative Options
Alternatives to Bleach on Disney Plus
* Vampire Diaries: The Original Series
The Vampire Diaries is a supernatural drama series that aired on The CW from 2009 to 2017. While it has a similar dark and dramatic tone to Bleach, it has a larger global fan base and more current content. However, the show is not currently available on Disney Plus.
* Lucifer
Lucifer is a fantasy drama series that premiered on Netflix in 2016. The show follows the story of Lucifer Morningstar, a demon who leaves Hell to live among humans. Like Bleach, Lucifer has a complex and dark tone, and it has a dedicated fan base. However, it is not currently available on Disney Plus.
Conclusion
In conclusion, while Disney Plus has made significant strides in recent years, Bleach is not available on the service due to the licensing agreements and rights tied to Toei Animation and Akira Toriyama. If you’re a fan of Bleach, there are alternative options available, such as Vampire Diaries: The Original Series or Lucifer.
