How to Install Windows to a New Hard Drive
Step 1: Preparing the Hard Drive
Before installing Windows to a new hard drive, make sure you have the following:

Step 1: Preparation
Before installing Windows, make sure your computer meets the minimum system requirements:

Step 4: Formatting the Hard Drive
After installation, it’s time to format the new hard drive:
- Open Command Prompt (Press Win + R to open the Run dialog box, type
cmd, and press Enter) - Run the disk cleanup command:
disk cleanup /s - Check for errors:
chkdsk /s - Format the hard drive:
diskpart
assign disk 1 ext2
files set fs-1 ext2
format quick ext2 - Create a new system file:
mkfs.ext2 /n MySystemFile - Check for errors:
chkdsk /n /f /r - Format the new hard drive:
diskpart
assign disk 2 ext2
files set fs-2 ext2
format quick ext2
Step 5: Installing Drivers
After installation, you need to install drivers to ensure your computer is working properly:
- Download drivers from the manufacturer’s website:
- Windows Device Manager ( Press Win + X and select Device Manager)
- Microsoft Store (Download the driver for your specific device)
- Install the drivers:
- Update Windows > Windows Update > Install drivers > Install device drivers

- Check for errors:

After installation, you need to create a new user account:
