How to Delete Safari on Your Mac
Step 1: Uninstall Safari from Your Mac
- Locate the App Store icon on your Mac’s dock.
- Click the Safari app icon to open it.
- Click the Uninstall button next to the app name.
- Wait for the uninstallation process to complete.
Step 2: Remove Safari from Your Browser Extensions
- Open the App Store app on your Mac.
- Tap the Safari app icon.
- Tap and hold the Share button until the context menu appears.
- Tap Remove from Browser.
Step 3: Remove Safari from Your System Preferences
- Click the Safari app icon in your Applications folder.
- Click the Safari option in the System Preferences window.
- Click Quit.
Step 4: Remove Safari from Your Contacts and Messages
- Click the Safari app icon in your Applications folder.

- Click Applications and then select the Web Inspector app.
- Click the Turn Off button to disable it.
Using Terminal to Delete Safari
You can also use the Terminal app to delete Safari on your Mac. Here’s how:
- Open the Terminal app on your Mac.
- Type the following command:
sudo rm -rf /Library/Application Support/Safari - Press Enter to run the command.
Note: Before using Terminal to delete Safari, make sure you have administrative privileges on your Mac. If you don’t have them, you may need to run the command as root.
What Happens When You Delete Safari?
- When you delete Safari, you will also delete any associated files and settings.
- You will not be able to recover any deleted files or settings.
