How to Transfer MacBook to a New MacBook
Step 1: Prepare Your Devices
Before you start the transfer process, make sure you have the following:
- A new MacBook
- A USB-C to USB-A cable
- A USB-C to USB-C cable (for transferring data)
- A power cord
- A copy of your MacBook’s startup disk (if you have it)
Step 2: Connect the New MacBook to the Old MacBook
- Connect the new MacBook to the old MacBook using a USB-C to USB-A cable.
- Make sure the new MacBook is turned on and the old MacBook is turned off.
- Note: The new MacBook will automatically detect the old MacBook and start the transfer process.
Step 3: Transfer Data from the Old MacBook
- Connect the old MacBook to the new MacBook using a USB-C to USB-C cable.

- Select the new MacBook from the list of available devices.

Step 4: Transfer Files from the Old MacBook

- Open the Finder on the old MacBook and select Devices > Connect to > USB.
- Select the new MacBook from the list of available devices.
- Note: You can transfer files from the old MacBook to the new MacBook using the Finder or by using the iCloud service.
Step 5: Transfer the Startup Disk (if applicable)
- If you have a copy of your MacBook’s startup disk, you can transfer it to the new MacBook using a USB-C to USB-A cable.
