GIF Size Options

GIFs can be resized in Instagram. You can choose from the following size options:

  • Thumb (square, 320×320 pixels)
  • Web (square, 1280×720 pixels)
  • Pulse (square, 640×480 pixels)

GIF Formats

GIFs are a bit tricky to work with in Instagram. You can only upload GIFs that are less than 100MB in size. You can also upload GIFs in various formats, such as:

  • GIF (animated GIF)
  • GIF 8-bit (static GIF)
  • GIF 16×16 (static GIF)

Blocking GIFs

Unfortunately, Instagram has a feature called "Blocking" that allows you to save GIFs to your phone or computer. To use this feature:

  • Find the GIF you want to save.
  • Tap on the three dots (⋮) next to the GIF.
  • Select "Save to phone" or "Save to computer".
  • Follow the prompts to save the GIF.

Animated GIFs vs. Live Reactions

Instagram also has an option to use Animated GIFs or Live Reactions. Animated GIFs are like regular GIFs, but they’re animated. Live Reactions, on the other hand, are live video reactions that you can record and share with your followers. To use Animated GIFs or Live Reactions, tap on the three dots next to the GIF and select "Convert to GIF" or "Save as Live Reactions".
