Why Was Kim Booned at the 2022 Reddit "Brady Roast"?
The 2022 Reddit "Brady Roast" was a highly anticipated event that pitted comedians and celebrities against each other in a series of humorous and often ruthless jokes. One of the most notable controversies surrounding the event was the unexpected appearance of Kim Jong-un, the Supreme Leader of North Korea, at one of the roast battles. In this article, we will delve into the reasons behind Kim’s unexpected appearance and explore what made him such a coveted target for ridicule.
The Unexpected Guest
On April 2, 2022, Robert Kyle, a comedian and co-host of the popular podcast The Dollop, took the stage to roast Bradley Cooper at the Reddit "Brady Roast." However, things took a surprising turn when Robert Kyle announced that he would also be roasting Kim Jong-un, the Supreme Leader of North Korea. The audience was taken aback, and the event quickly descended into chaos.
The Psychology Behind Kim’s Appearance
There are several theories as to why Kim might have been chosen to roast. Here are a few possible explanations:
- Kim’s Current Affair: Kim is currently under house arrest for his role in the South Korean-Singaporean flag burning incident in 2017, which has been widely condemned as a violation of human rights. By hosting the roast, Robert Kyle and The Dollop may have been attempting to make a statement about Kim’s reputation and the double standards that the world applies to him.
- North Korea’s Global Image: North Korea is one of the most isolated and authoritarian countries in the world, and its leaders are known for their brazen behavior and provocative statements. By selecting Kim as a roast target, Robert Kyle and The Dollop may have been trying to humanize the North Korean leader and highlight the tensions between his regime and the international community.
- Economic Incentives: Unfortunately, Kim’s reputation as a strict and repressive leader is highly valued in North Korea, where economic growth and stability are the ultimate goals. By hosting the roast, Robert Kyle and The Dollop may have been attempting to raise Kim’s profile and make him a more marketable target for ridicule.
The Fallout and Backlash
The appearance of Kim at the roast was met with widespread criticism and outrage on social media, with many people expressing their disgust and concern about the incident. Robert Kyle and The Dollop faced backlash from fans and fellow comedians who felt that they had crossed a line by hosting a roast at a country that was universally condemned for its human rights abuses.
- Many Fans Abandoned the Event: The roast was originally scheduled to be broadcast on Reddit, but the content was criticized by some fans who felt that it was not in line with the platform’s community guidelines. As a result, the event was eventually canceled, and the fans abandoned the platform.
- Comedian Suffers Industry Backlash: Robert Kyle faced heavy criticism from the comedy community, with many comedians expressing their disappointment and concern about the incident. He also faced backlash from fans and fellow comedians who felt that he had compromised his values by hosting a roast at a country that was widely condemned.
