- A pop-up window will appear asking if you want to create a new folder. Click OK.
Step 2: Select the Folder You Want to Delete
- In the new folder window, click on the folder you want to delete.
- If you have multiple folders with the same name, you may be prompted to confirm that you want to delete it. Click OK.
Step 3: Delete the Folder
- Once you’ve selected the folder you want to delete, click on the Delete button.
- If you’re asked if you’re sure you want to delete the folder, click OK.
Important Notes:
- Deleting a folder will permanently delete all emails and attachments associated with that folder.
- Before deleting a folder, make sure you’re certain you want to delete it. If you delete a folder accidentally, you won’t be able to recover it.
Alternative Method:
- If you’re having trouble deleting a folder, you can try using the "Move" instead of the "Delete" button. Click on the Move button next to the folder and then select the "Delete" option from the dropdown menu.
Temporary Delete vs. Permanently Delete:
- Temporary Delete: This is a way to move a folder to a different location without permanently deleting it. You can create a new folder and move the old folder to it. You can then delete the old folder if you no longer need it.
- Permanently Delete: This is the recommended method, as it permanently deletes the folder and its contents.
Using the "Empty Folders" Feature:
- To automatically empty your Gmail inbox and delete all emails in a folder, you can use the "Empty Folders" feature.
- To use this feature, follow these steps:
- Log in to your Gmail account.
- Click on the Gear icon next to your Gmail address.
- Select See all settings from the dropdown menu.
- Click on Categorize conversations.
- Click on Empty folders.
- Select the folders you want to empty.
- Click OK.
Using the "Search" Feature:
- To search for specific emails or folders in Gmail, you can use the search bar.
- To search for specific emails or folders, type the search query in the search bar at the top of the Gmail interface.
- Press Enter or click on the Search button.
- Gmail will then display a list of emails or folders that match your search query.
Common Errors:
- Error 0x80040001: This error occurs when you try to delete a folder that is also a thread or a label.
- Error 0x80040105: This error occurs when you try to delete a folder that is associated with an IMAP account.

Troubleshooting Tips:
- Try using the "Delete" button instead of the "Move" button: This can help you avoid accidentally deleting folders.
- Check your Gmail account settings: Make sure that your Gmail account settings are correct and that you have the necessary permissions to delete folders.
- Use the Gmail web interface: The Gmail web interface is more reliable than the mobile app and can help you avoid accidental deletions.
By following these steps and tips, you should be able to delete a folder from Gmail with ease. Remember to be cautious when deleting folders, as it will permanently delete all emails and attachments associated with that folder.
