Is Saw on Disney Plus?
Content Available on Disney Plus
For the past few years, Saw has been on a steady roll, expanding its territory from theaters to streaming platforms. Disney Plus, the popular streaming service owned by The Walt Disney Company, has finally released a direct-to-streaming version of Saw. Here’s the breakdown of what you can expect from this release.
Why is Saw on Disney Plus?
There are a few reasons why Saw has joined the Disney Plus family:
- Streaming Rights: The rights to Saw were initially set to expire in 2020. Disney bought the rights back in 2017 for a reported $500 million. With the new deal, Disney can now stream Saw directly to its users.
- Cable Conundrum: Some cable and satellite providers had been limiting or blocking Saw due to their contractual agreements with other networks. Disney Plus has given cable and satellite providers the flexibility to remove these restrictions.
- Marketing and Distribution: Disney’s acquisition of the rights to Saw also allowed them to market and distribute the franchise through their network.
What’s the Deal with Saw 2023?
As of now, Saw 2023 is the most recent installment in the franchise. The latest film in the series was released in theaters in June 2022. However, since the pandemic, audiences have been searching for a new way to experience the series. Disney Plus has been promoting the franchise as a direct-to-streaming experience.
Exclusive Content on Disney Plus
Some exclusive content is available on Disney Plus that will only be available on the platform:
- No Live Events: Unlike some other streaming services, Saw 2023 is not a live event and will not be available on HBO Max or Starz.
- No Subscriptions: Saw 2023 is not a subscription-based service. You can download the full movie and enjoy it on-demand.
- Disney Plus’s Own Offering: Disney Plus has been offering a diverse range of movies and TV shows to its users, including many Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars titles.
Additional Shows and Movies
While Saw 2023 is the most notable release, Disney Plus has been expanding its library with more original content. Some other notable titles include:
- Pacific Rim: Uprising (2018) – a sci-fi action film
- Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023) – an upcoming Marvel superhero film
- Hotel Transylvania: Transformania (2023) – a animated film
Debate and Critics
Some critics have questioned the decision to release Saw 2023 directly on Disney Plus. Some argue that it is a poor move for the franchise, potentially hurting its overall box office earnings. Others argue that it is a shrewd business decision that allows Disney to reach a broader audience.
Multiple Platforms
While Saw 2023 is available on Disney Plus, some other platforms will still have the movie available. This includes:
- Disney+, Hulu, and Amazon Prime Video: The movie will be available on these streaming services as well, providing users with multiple options to choose from.
- Google Play, iTunes, and Vudu: Some users will also be able to purchase and download Saw 2023 on these platforms.
What About the Future?
While Saw 2023 is currently available on Disney Plus, it’s likely that there will be future releases in the franchise. Disney has not officially announced any plans for future Saw releases, but it’s possible that new movies and TV shows will be added to the platform in the coming years.
Conclusion
Saw 2023 is a direct-to-streaming release of Saw, offering a unique and convenient viewing experience for Disney Plus users. While some may question the decision to release the franchise directly on the platform, it’s clear that Disney is committed to offering its users a diverse range of movies and TV shows. With more original content and new installments in the franchise, Saw 2023 is shaping up to be an exciting addition to the Disney Plus family.
