Can You Watch Sunday Football on Peacock?
The Verdict: A Partial Yes, with Some Limitations
NBC’s streaming service, Peacock, has been making waves in the world of online entertainment, offering a vast array of TV shows, movies, and original content to its subscribers. But what about Sunday football? Can you catch your favorite teams in action on Peacock?
In this article, we’ll explore the possibilities and limitations of watching Sunday football on Peacock, breaking down the pros and cons for you.
What’s Available on Peacock?
Before we dive into the specifics of Sunday football, it’s essential to understand what’s available on Peacock. The platform has a vast library of content, including:
- TV shows, such as Dr. Death, Brave New World, and Saved by the Bell
- Movies, including popular titles like Fast & Furious 9 and The Bourne Identity
- Original content, like Brave New World: Season 2 and The Pentaverate
- Debuting in 2022, Peacock will also offer Monday Night Football, starting with the 2022-2023 NFL season
Sunday Football: What’s Missing
So, what about Sunday football? Unfortunately, Peacock doesn’t currently have the rights to broadcast Sunday games. This is because the broadcasting rights for Sunday football belong to CBS, FOX, NBC (which issues a window for their own Sunday games), and ESPN. As a result, you won’t be able to watch live Sunday games on Peacock.
Why the Limitation?
The main reason for this limitation is contractual agreements. The NFL has separate partnerships with each network, determining which games they broadcast on their respective days. For instance, NBC (the parent company of Peacock) has a partnership with the NFL to air select Sunday games, but these broadcasts are exclusive to NBC’s platforms, not Peacock.
Some Sunday Games Available on Peacock (But with a Catch)
While Peacock doesn’t offer live Sunday games, they do have some exceptions. Check these out:
- Sunday Night Football (SNF): Although Peacock doesn’t have the rights to broadcast Sunday games, they do offer post-game coverage of certain Sunday Night Football games. This means you can catch recapped highlights, analysis, and interviews from the previous night’s game.
- Premier League coverage: Peacock does offer live coverage of the Premier League, which includes weekend matches, but these are not Sunday games.
Conclusion: Peacock’s Sunday Football Experience
In conclusion, while Peacock doesn’t offer live Sunday games, they do provide some alternatives, such as post-game coverage and Premier League matches. If you’re a football fan, you might find these consolation offerings sufficient, but if you’re looking for a comprehensive Sunday football experience, you might need to explore other options, such as traditional TV broadcasts or other streaming services.
