How Do Fast Passes Work at Disney World?
Understanding the Basics
When it comes to planning a trip to Disney World, one of the most exciting aspects is the opportunity to experience the magic of the parks without the crowds. However, getting to the front of the lines can be a challenge, especially during peak seasons. That’s where Fast Passes come in – a convenient way to skip the lines and make the most of your Disney World experience.
What is a Fast Pass?
A Fast Pass is a special ticket that allows you to reserve a spot in line for a specific attraction or show. It’s essentially a "fast lane" that gets you to the front of the line, saving you time and energy. Fast Passes are available for most attractions, shows, and character meet-and-greets, but they’re not available for all of them.
Types of Fast Passes
There are several types of Fast Passes available at Disney World, including:
- Base Ticket: This is the most basic type of Fast Pass, which allows you to reserve a spot in line for one attraction or show.
- Park Hopper: This type of Fast Pass allows you to visit multiple parks in one day, skipping the lines for attractions and shows at each park.
- Park Hopper Plus: This type of Fast Pass adds an extra day to your ticket, allowing you to visit multiple parks in one day and skip the lines for attractions and shows at each park.
- Disney’s Magical Express: This is a complimentary shuttle service that takes you from the airport to your Disney hotel, and also offers a Fast Pass option for some attractions.
How to Get a Fast Pass
To get a Fast Pass, you’ll need to purchase a ticket that includes the Fast Pass option. Here’s how to do it:

What to Expect
When you purchase a Fast Pass, you’ll receive a special wristband that you’ll need to wear to the attraction. Here’s what you can expect:
- Wristband: The wristband is a special device that you’ll wear to the attraction. It’s a small, wearable device that tracks your time and allows you to reserve a spot in line.
- Time Tracking: The wristband tracks your time and allows you to reserve a spot in line for the attraction. You can reserve a spot in line up to 60 minutes in advance.
- Line Skipping: Once you’ve reserved a spot in line, you’ll be able to skip the line and enter the attraction.
