Albuquerque Balloon Festival

The evening program at the Albuquerque Balloon Festival is different than any type of balloon shooting I have done. The Afterglow was a sight to see with hundreds of balloons lit up at once against the twilight sky with a sliver of moon in the sky. It was an exposure challenge as the light changed quickly with the number of balloons lit. I set the camera to Aperture Priority with a high ISO to give me a fast enough shutter speed to stop any movement. From there I dialed in minus exposure compensation accordingly. Following the afterglow was the fireworks show. I wanted to include something that would tell viewers that the image was made at the festival so, I included one of the gas balloons that was inflated to lift off after the fireworks for the America’s Challenge Gas Balloon Race.
