With the long days, incredible photo opportunities and gigs upon gigs of images, I have fallen way behind. Sunday was the last day of the first week’s safari and we had one last morning boat ride ahead of us before the gang departed. Before breakfast a bear wandered through the yard and I was able to capture an image I have wanted since I began coming here in 2001…

We boarded the boats and headed out on the calmest seas we had experienced all week. Just as we were making our way down the bay Perry saw a whale off in the distance so off we went. We spent a couple of hours watching and photographing the whales in a most scenic landscape.

As a final parting shot the sun broke through and a whale surfaced near the boat giving us a great shot at it’s fluke as it dove into the deep water.

Of course I could not pass up an opportunity to photograph the amazing reflections…

What a magical morning and a grand sendoff for the group.
