“I’ve Looked At Clouds From Both Sides Now…

…from up and down…” by Judy Collins runs through my head as we make our way northwestward flying home after a life altering week of storm chasing.  It is a very humbling experience to have front row seats to view the full force and fury of Mother Nature in action.

As I gazed into the sky one final time before departing Oklahoma, I was treated to this spectacular view of Mammatas clouds. A week ago I would have had no idea what a Mammatus cloud was.

I didn’t have to stop my storm viewing cold turkey.  I was treated to marvelous clouds during the flight home.  Aerial view of Mount Adams.

And on our final descent into Portland Mt St Helen’s peaked through the clouds as if to say “Welcome Home.”

The bottom two images have been finished using one of my favorite NIK ColorEfex 3 filters. Don’t know what it is? Well, then take some time and explore the creative world of NIK filters.
